Tamper Protection

Tamper Protection makes common bypass actions more difficult. It uses the Android device administrator permission and the Curbox accessibility service.

Actions that Curbox monitors

While Tamper Protection is active, Curbox monitors attempts to:

  • Uninstall Curbox
  • Remove its device administrator permission
  • Turn off its accessibility service
  • Open Android settings that can turn off its protection

When Curbox detects one of these actions, it closes the applicable screen or returns to the previous screen.

Unlock methods

MethodFunction
PasswordTurns off Tamper Protection after you enter the correct password
Timed unlockTurns off Tamper Protection after the selected number of days; you cannot cancel this timer
One-day waitTurns off Tamper Protection after one day; you can cancel the request during the wait

Select an unlock method that you can complete when you must change a necessary Android setting.

Interaction with Settings Change Delay

Settings Change Delay can require Tamper Protection to be off. If this option is active, a weaker settings change has two conditions:

  • Its delay must end.
  • Tamper Protection must be off.

Curbox does not apply the pending change until both conditions are true.
