App Pause

App Pause applies a schedule and an optional usage limit to a group of apps. When a block starts, Curbox shows the configured warning screen.

Focus Mode is for a session that you start manually. App Pause is for a group that follows a repeated schedule.

App Pause controls

Each App Pause group has these controls:

ControlFunction
Active ScheduleSets the days and times when the group applies
Usage LimitSets the permitted app-use duration during the active schedule

If Usage Limit is empty, Curbox blocks the apps for the complete active schedule. If you set a limit, Curbox blocks the apps after you use that duration.

Example: A group is active from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM. An empty limit blocks the apps for that complete period. A 30-minute limit permits 30 minutes of use during that period.

Create an App Pause group

  1. Open Apps Tap Reducers. Then, tap Apps.

  2. Create a group Tap the + button. Curbox opens Create App Group.

  3. Enter a name Enter a short name in Name.

  4. Select apps Tap Select Apps. Select one or more apps.

  5. Set the active schedule Tap Active Schedule. Select the days and times when the group applies.

  6. Set a usage limit (optional) Tap Usage Limit. Enter the permitted use duration.

  7. Configure the warning screen (optional) Tap Configure Warning Screen. Configure the action that is necessary to continue. Read Unlock Challenges for all options.

  8. Save the group Tap Done. Curbox activates the group.

Configure an all-day or overnight schedule

Set the start and end times to 12:00 AM for an all-day schedule.

Curbox automatically splits a time range that crosses midnight. For example, Curbox stores 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM as two adjacent ranges.

Manage groups

The Apps screen shows the name, number of apps, and active schedule for each group.

Turn off the switch on a group card to pause the group. Turn on the switch to activate the group again.

Use the same app in multiple groups

You can put the same app in multiple groups. The active schedules for that app must not overlap.

If two schedules overlap, Curbox shows a warning. Change one schedule before you activate both groups.

Example: daytime limit and overnight block

GroupActive scheduleUsage limit
Instagram Daytime9:00 AM to 10:00 PM45 minutes
Instagram Night Block10:00 PM to 9:00 AMEmpty

The daytime group permits 45 minutes of use. The night group blocks Instagram for the complete overnight period.

Example: weekday and weekend limits

GroupActive scheduleUsage limit
Social Weekday LimitMonday through Friday, all day30 minutes
Social Weekend LimitSaturday and Sunday, all day90 minutes

Each group has an independent usage counter.
